Words of Others

Here are two pieces I consider worthy of your time to read. They are both unlikely to come to your notice as they have not appeared in major publications. The first is a speech given just a few days ago by Trump’s former US Trade Representative, Robert Lighthizer. He lays out a compelling case for why the trade policies towards China and others started during the Trump presidency should be continued and supported even by “free trade” conservatives.

The New American System: Trade for Workers in the 21st Century by Robert Lighthizer

The second is an article written by Joe Lonsdale, who is a tech entrepreneur and one of the founders of new new university, the University of Austin, which, like Hillsdale College, has been founded on the principles of true academic freedom which principles have been abandoned by virtually every other American university. His piece is defending western civilization. The fact that this has to be said and that his arguments are at all controversial is much of the problem with American education and culture today.

In Defense of Us by Joe Lonsdale

I found both pieces unique, compelling and thought provoking. I hope you do too.
