Negativity
’Been singing for my rent, singing for my supper.
I’m above the below and below the upper.
I’m stuck in the middle where money get’s tight,
But I guess I’m doin’ alright.
I’m all, I’m all, I’m alright.
It’s a beautiful day not a cloud in sight so I guess I’m doin’ alright.
Oh, oh oh I’m alright.
Got a good old friend here with me tonight so I guess I’m doin’ alright.
Alright – Jo Dee Messina
…..
Inflation is eating into the disposable income of almost everyone. Crime is on the rise in cities across the country. The China Virus just won’t go away, no matter what medicines we seem to throw at it. Deaths from drug overdoses and suicides are reaching new highs. Our southern border has been left wide open by design allowing fentanyl, meth, criminals, terrorists and dependent people to flood in the country. Cancel culture is in full bloom. Your rights to speak freely and carry a firearm are being reduced everywhere you look. Education at all levels in the United States has deteriorated into places of politicized wokeness with little learning. Russia may invade Ukraine. China may invade Taiwan. North Korea is shooting missiles. Iran is back trying to destabilize the middle east.
Crap.
I hear from people all the time, “oh, I don’t pay attention to news, it’s all so depressing”.
I understand why they say that. But I disagree with their solution.
If you have read others of my musings on this blog, you know that I think we as citizens should engage in all the dimensions we can to effect change in all those issues I just mentioned along with a bunch I didn’t mention. If we don’t, we can’t expect that someone else will come and fix them. Some say, “oh that’s terrible but not affecting me”. This crap will eventually come to all of our doorsteps and in to our houses. At least it will do that if we don’t reverse the tide.
Standing against the dominant culture as expressed by the propaganda media, federal bureaucracy, entertainment, sports, corporations, etc. can seem like standing in a field with windblown rain in your face and putting up your hand to try and stop it. But we have to try. And with enough hands up (and votes) we can make a difference.
We must, however, remain cheerful in the face of all this. We have lives to live and there is much to enjoy. And we will be more effective fighters if we do it from a place of joy rather than a place of depression.
You may find your joy in the Good Lord; in family; in friends; in good health; in a hobby; in a satisfying job; in music; in art; in study; in any number of places. The Left ruins everything it touches. Thankfully, there is much the left has not yet touched.
We are surrounded by negativity. We need not be consumed by it.
Don’t check out of the world. But, don’t let the world defeat you either.
I’m doin’ alright. I hope you are too.
I remain respectfully,
Congressman John Campbell
